Life Impression: A Printmaking Quartet
In association with the exhibition "The Print Art of Huang Xinbo"
To be unveiled at the museum in November 2011, "The Print Art of Huang Xinbo" charts the life and work of a printmaking artist who exposed the social, political and living conditions of his times in a career that spanned half a century.

As a prelude and response to the exhibition, we are teaming up with the Hong Kong Open Printshop, to organise a series of programmes entitled "Life Impression: A Printmaking Quartet" that introduce the art and craft of printmaking as well as its history and development in Hong Kong, while also inviting reflection on contemporary social issues.

Comprising six sessions, "Life Impression" covers the four basic steps of the printmaking art, with artists from the Printshop leading participants from conception and manuscript drawing to carving and printing in a combination of theory and practice. Participants based on the theme of renjian ("on earth"), creates their own prints, and a selection of which will be shown at the response exhibition to be held later in November.
