Sam Tung Uk Museum Forges Ties and Interaction within the Community

The Sam Tung Uk Museum has always put the community at the heart of its activities. Last year, the museum helped launch a series of community projects, including "Part of Our Lives, MTR@Tsuen Wan" co-organised with the MTR Corporation. Blending the old and the new, the traditional and the modern, the project featured a drawing and snapshot competition, tours to the museum and the Tsuen Wan MTR station and an exhibition of historical pictures to foster not only a sense of belonging but also an awareness of the importance of passing on knowledge of our heritage to future generations.

A new generation embraces the museum as warmly as its community of Tsuen Wan.

The Hong Kong Dance Company presented Precious Moments in Tsuen Wan between October and November, transforming the museum into a stage to narrate the stories that connect the Hakka people and the Tsuen Wan community through an environmental dance.

Praying for blessings for spring sowing, rain and luck: Sam Tung Uk comes to life as dancers and the docent of a lively guided tour relate an important chapter of local history of Qianwan (Shallow Bay), the old name for Tsuen Wan, to our visitors.
