"A Fantasy of Chairs" Creative Art Zone

Hong Kong Heritage Museum
7 June 2014 - 15 September 2014
co-organised with Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and
the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee)

To inspire the younger generation and encourage their creativity, the museum was pleased to organise together with the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education IVE (Lee Wai Lee) an art project called "From the Classroom to the Museum – Chairs for All". Students of both institutes had been invited to create and design chairs and chair-related works of art that were displayed in the "A Fantasy of Chairs" Creative Art Zone. Covering the public space outside the museum's exhibition halls, this zone served as a platform for local design students to present their ideas and showcase their talents.

All students from the design departments of both institutes, including the Department of Design Foundation Studies, the Department of Communication Design and Digital Media and the Department of Product and Interior Design of the HKDI and the Department of Multimedia and Internet Technology of the IVE (Lee Wai Lee), were invited to take part. Encouraged to make use of their creative ideas in different disciplines and media, the students were spurred to unleash their artistic potential.
