Lo Ching Yuan was born in 1946, in Meixian, Guangdong province. He studied painting under Professor Chao Shao-an, and is a renowned third-generation painter of the Lingnan School. Long active in promoting the art of Lingnan, he devotes his time to both creating new works and teaching students in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada. Following in the footsteps of his teacher, Lo paints subjects in nature, introducing new dimensions into his works.

Lo loved to paint fish early in his career, creating a feeling of leisure, free of worldly concerns. Later, he focused on painting eagles, which symbolise the strong, unyielding will of life. In his paintings, all kinds of living creature are depicted in detail and with spirit. This exhibition features his achievements over the years, with selected works of flowers, birds, fish, animals and landscapes, to reflect on the keeping of tradition and the need for exploration in the Lingnan School.
