Introduction Situated in the town center of Tai Po Market, the Hong Kong Railway Museum is an open-air museum occupying some 6,500 square meters converted from the old Tai Po Railway Station. Erected in 1913, the station building features the pitched roof of traditional Chinese building. It was declared a monument in 1984, refurbished and opened as a museum in 1985.

Railway Museum Unveils a New Look for Its Exhibition Gallery Closely following the recent advances on Hong Kong's rail networks, the Hong Kong Railway Museum is unveiling a brand new design for its exhibition gallery with plenty of updated content to highlight the latest happenings in the field. Newly added exhibits include historical pictures and artefacts that help chronicle the story of how the railways developed in Hong Kong.The gallery features an education corner in which interactive displays have been installed to enhance visitors' experience of the museum and broaden their knowledge of the railways, while new attractions showcase railway logos from different periods and profiles of future MTR extensions.
