Unless otherwise stated, all special programmes are conducted in Cantonese and are free of charge. A separate ticket is required for admission to museum exhibitions. “Please Have a Seat”: A Major Event on the Theme of Chairs

FULL HOUSE
Happy Paper Chair Craft with the Chair Family
In association with the event “Please Have a Seat”

You are invited to meet the adorable Chair family members. Listen to the instructor tell stories about chairs, and then go into the wonderland of chairs to get a glimpse into how chairs are represented in culture and art around the world. After the visit, the instructor will show you how to design and decorate your own little stools in creative ways.

Date : 9 August 2014 (Saturday)
Time : 11:00 am – 1:00 pm /2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Venue : Seminar Room, G/F / Education Studio, G/F
Instructor : Ms Jessica Ho (Lecturer, Department of Communication Design and Digital Media, Hong Kong Design Institute)
Target : MuseKids aged 4 – 12 (All participants must be accompanied by a parent)

A Journey to the World of Animation World: My Ponyo is Over the Ocean
In association with the exhibition “Studio Ghibli Layout Designs: Understanding the Secrets of Takahata and Miyazaki Animation”

How many animations produced by Studio Ghibli have you seen? We’re sure you know Totoro, Chihiro and Ponyo! Set off on a journey with our instructor to the world of animation of Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki and enjoy once again the many familiar scenes and sketches. Learn about the appearance and personality of your favourite anime characters and, with the help of the instructor, create your own Ponyo fish, moving it in the sky to create your own version of this animation classic.

“Becoming Sharp and Smart Genius” MuseKids Award Programme

This quarterly programme that encourages MuseKids to visit the museum in their free time to expand their knowledge of art, history and culture and develop an interest in learning includes a Chinese culture quiz based on the displays in the museum’s permanent and special exhibitions. To start with, MuseKids are invited to collect the question cards from the reception counter in the lobby, children then set off their museum tour with their parents. Following hints from the playing card, they take up the challenges and finding the answers.

The new phase of this scheme will start from 23 July onwards, a prize of tailor-made MuseKids badge “Little Triangle” will be presented at the reception counter for those who get all the questions right!

A limited number of our trio of memorial badges – Little Circle (1), Little Square (2) and Little Triangle (3) – are available from now while stocks last. MuseKids who collect all the three badges will also be able to redeem a special gift at the reception counter between October and December 2014. Collect all of them while stocks last!
