By the source of museum acquisition and donation from the enthusiastic public and institutions, the museum has about 1,400 items on natural history which include specimens of rocks and ores, slides of butterflies, birds and corals, photos of natural disasters as well as typhoon signals cum scientific equipment used by the Hong Kong Observatory in the early periods. These collections provide valuable reference for research on the changing landscape of Hong Kong and help us to understand the interactive relationship between humanities and natural environments.
