Meet a Heritage Museum Docent at Your School

To promote life-wide learning, the docents of the Heritage Museum have been commissioned to visit schools and discuss topics such as the heritage of the New Territories, the culture of Hong Kong society and Chinese arts with all the students and staff. We hope this will prove to be a lively and stimulating way to learn more about the home we share from different perspectives. So see you at your school! But be sure to make your reservation early.

Designed by Users - In Search of the Indigenous Creativity & Wisdom from Designing Tools

Many people in a wide variety of industries customize their tools according to their own needs. These creative inventions can not only speed up productivity, but also improve the quality of life. Through a series of workshops, participants can discover indigenous creativity and wisdom by investigating different kinds of tools. They will also find out the close relationship between design and life. By conducting a series of case studies, collecting artefacts, drawing up documentation and holding interviews, participants will also compose a design history and come to understand the basic concepts of a museum.

To conclude the whole project, an exhibition will be presented in July 2005.

General Studies for Primary Schools : Learning & Teaching in the Museum

To help teachers come to grips with the "National Identity and Chinese Culture" strand in the new General Studies curriculum, we have jointly organized a seminar with the Curriculum Development Institute, in which teachers can learn how to make good use of the educational resources and services available from the Heritage Museum and how to create a bigger learning space for inquiry-based activities. These skills will benefit teachers as they broaden their students’ learning experiences.

Ms Teresa Lo (Assistant Curator II, Hong Kong Heritage Museum)

Jointly organized by the Curriculum Development Institute, Education and Manpower Bureau and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum

The two sessions feature the same content, so you can join either session. Participation is free but limited to a maximum of 120 teachers on a first-come-first-served basis. For registration details, please contact Mrs Cindy Yuen of the Curriculum Development Institute on 2892 6469.
