"Children's Discovery Gallery" Programmes
(July - September)

Unless otherwise stated, all public programmes are conducted in Cantonese and are free of charge. A separate admission ticket is required for admission to museum exhibitions. For enquiries, please call 2180 8260.



Programme details


Small Toys, Big Deal
In association with the "Children's Discovery Gallery"

Children and families will have lots of fun making an inexhaustible range of small toys from simple materials such as paper, wooden ice-cream sticks and jigsaw pieces. Put down your fancy toys and get your fingers moving to create your own new ones. There's plenty of enjoyment to be had — and some wonderful surprises, too!

Time : 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm
Venue : Education Studio, Hong Kong Heritage Museum

Enrolment : 
A maximum of 20 children per session on a first-come-first-served basis. Parents are welcome. Simply sign up at the entrance to the Children's Discovery Gallery 30 minutes before the programme commences. Please note a museum admission ticket is required for entry to the venue of this activity.


Be a Little Villager
In association with the "Children's Discovery Gallery"

How much do you know about village life in the olden times? Learn and experience through hands-on activities the similarities and differences of village life past and present.

Date : 1 July 2010 - 30 September 2010 (every Saturday & Sunday)
Time : 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Venue : Children's Discovery Gallery, Hong Kong Heritage Museum

Target : Children aged 4 - 8

The Kingdom of Stone Animals
A brand new programme in association with the "Children's Discovery Gallery"

Follow the animal footprints in the Children's Discovery Gallery to discover a kingdom of the wild you've never seen before! With an artist as your guide, you will learn the features and characteristics of different species through questions and observation. Then, using your new-found knowledge and insight and natural materials such as stones, take part in an art and crafts project to create a beautiful ornament of your favourite animal.

"Pop-up" Country Scenery
A brand new programme in association with the "Children's Discovery Gallery"

Charming villages, green pastures, the teeming life of the natural world ... an idyllic countryside like this might be a world away from the experiences of city kids, but with a good dose of imagination, combined with an innovative tutorial on cutting, folding and other paper sculpture techniques, you can use card stock and a rainbow of colours to create your own "pop-up" portrait of rural life to bring home!
