All-round Training for MuseTeens
"Jump into New Space for Culture, Explore New Perspectives, Learn New Styles!"
Under the Youth Leadership Scheme, young learners are encouraged to tap into uncharted territories of local art and culture and gain insight into our local heritage. It also aims to instil in them a willing mind and spirit oriented on community service. Through a series of talks, visits, workshops and an artist's demonstration, the special focus devoted to arts education this year will encourage MuseTeens to gain a more comprehensive understanding of local art and culture. In July, the 60 selected MuseTeens will be undergoing training in three areas:
(1) New Space: Museum 101 Students will be able to gain an understanding of the history, development and functions of the museum as well as the facilities inside. Visits to the Resource Centre, conservation stores and depots will be included.
(2) New Perspectives: The Making of Exhibitions MuseTeens will be introduced to various exhibitions - including the "Splendour of Cantonese Opera: Masters Tong Tik-sang and Yam Kim-fai", "City Flâneur: Social Documentary Photography", "Unrestrained Passions: The Art of Ng Yuet-lau" with the aim of revealing the backstage work that goes into their presentation, that is the conceptualisation, co-ordination and production of the exhibitions. In addition, our curators will introduce our permanent exhibitions and highlight some of the museum's exhibits, supplemented by a visit to a local art village, to broaden their learning experiences outside the classroom.
(3) New Styles: Understanding and Promoting Museum Services The museum offers MuseTeens the opportunity to experience, learn and take part in the frontline operations of the museum by assigning them roles in customer and guide services and educational activities. What's more, MuseTeens will be able to take on a brand new role as ambassadors of the museum, in which they will be responsible for two missions: promoting local culture and the museum's activities and services both in and outside the museum.

MuseTeens-in-Schools
MuseTeens will introduce the Hong Kong Heritage Museum to their teachers and fellow schoolmates, sharing the thoughts and experiences of learning and practice that they gained from their participation in the scheme. Afterwards, they will submit a report — in written, photo or video form, which will later be posted on the HKHM website for all to share - on the results of their promotion efforts in the "MuseTeens-in-Schools".
