With a characteristic depth of expression and an emotive consciousness, her body of work synthesises the spirit of contemporary art and the essential nature of traditional landscape painting. Public Programmes on Intangible Cultural Heritage
Talk: The Yu Lan Ghost Festival of the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community
Application for Inscription on the 3rd National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Series (III)
Observed on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month, the Ghost Festival, or Yu Lan, is a time when descendants pay homage to their deceased ancestors. From the first celebration held by the local Chiu Chow community in 1897, the festival has evolved into a variety of events and colourful traditions practised across the territory.
While the main activities involve offering sacrifices to ancestors and the forgotten ghosts who wander the world in this month, ritual performances of Cantonese opera are also staged as a form of worship. Representing a unique cultural identity and a treasure trove of traditions, the festival has served to bind Chiu Chow natives together for generations.

Talk and Demonstration: Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance
Application for Inscription on the 3rd National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Series (IV)
Legend has it that to ward off a plague that broke out in Tai Hang in 1880, the villagers constructed a wicker-bone dragon that they then covered with straw and planted with joss sticks. Once the joss sticks had been lit, the glowing fire dragon was paraded through the village amid a sea of firecrackers, after which the plague happily ended. The tradition has been kept alive by the local community under the leadership of the Tai Hang Residents' Welfare Association, which has documented in detail the craft of constructing the fire dragon and the proceedings of the three-day parade. This talk on a part of Hong Kong's living heritage is accompanied by a demonstration by the masters themselves of how they construct the fire dragon.
