Changes in Hong Kong's economy and society have led to the development of a more complex social structure in which some communities are being ignored or even forgotten. The programme "From the Sky above the Museum: For a Better Tomorrow" of our Social Harmony Project aims to provide communities with equal access to government and community resources and thus to strengthen their community involvement. Through this programme, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum hopes to forge a close partnership with non-profit-making social services organisations that care for members from different communities as well as to provide a platform for them to take part in arts and cultural activities. By organising exhibition guided tours, demonstrations, workshops and other programmes, the museum will give people from different communities the opportunity to broaden their vision, enrich their quality of life and improve their ability to integrate into the society and share common ground with all of our citizens — to go ahead, from the sky above the museum! Programme details The Hong Kong Heritage Museum are organising various arts and cultural programmes for members from different communities quarterly. Details of the programmes from July to September 2010 are as follows: "The Fun of Toys" Workshop Relive the fun of toys as we take you back to childhood days! Featuring a comprehensive range of toys such as those found in the toy department of a large store, the exhibition Hong Kong Toy Story introduces to you the history of toys in Hong Kong and the characteristics of toys from different eras. In addition, our docents will show you toys from the olden days — and you can even join our Museum Ambassadors for a toy crafts session using simple materials and then discuss the toys you have made with other participants.
