Our Toys

In this exhibition we celebrate the toys of Hong Kong.

This exhibition defines "our toys" as those designed, manufactured, sold and used in Hong Kong. It is important to remember that after World War II, many of the toys manufactured here were for export to Europe and America. They were not made for to the children of Hong Kong. There are also toys not made in Hong Kong but sold in Hong Kong and overseas.

The toy industry in Hong Kong has recently undergone tremendous changes. Since the 1980s, many manufacturers have moved their plants to the Mainland and toys rarely carry the words "Made in Hong Kong".

The objects in this exhibition represent toy trends from different periods -- and many of them were highly popular at the time of their manufacture.
