Alan Chan -- The Art of Living
Thematic Galleries(1) & (2),
Hong Kong Heritage Museum
06 July 2003 - 27 October 2003

One of the few locally trained graphic designers to have gained international recognition, Alan Chan has dedicated himself throughout a prolific career to promote the fusion of Oriental and Western cultures in contemporary design. Documenting Chan's achievements in art and design and revealing his current creativity and philosophy of life, this exhibition highlights his unique curatorial concept and new display approaches to display. The ongoing international projects that he is working on and the vision behind them are covered in an audio-visual presentation, while the history of his lifelong achievements unfolds in a Chinese scroll format. In addition, a number of Chan's new art installations - designed to capture the spirit of the Suzhou garden and nature's refreshing charms - will also be on display. An exhibition catalogue highlighting his memories and experiences will be published to provide a valuable resource for designers and students in understanding Chan's artistic vision and directions in design.
