London, Paris: A Fashion and Cultural Tale of Two Cities

In association with the exhibition "The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-1957"

Both prominent capitals of fashion and culture, London and Paris may embrace different styles and aesthetic sensibilities but they share an intrinsic bond based on comparable qualities, particularly in the world of fashion. The immediate post-war years from 1947 to 1957 formed one of the most glamorous and remarkable decades in fashion history and eventually led to the rise of haute couture. What role did fashion play in cultural developments in Britain and France at that time? In what ways did the shifting tides of fashion shape life on the two sides of the Channel? How do today's designers see the future of couture, and what cues will they take from their predecessors?

Find out the answers to these questions and more with renowned fashion designer William Tang, narrator of our fashion and cultural tale of two cities.
