Cross-Generation Museum Tour Programme

To complement the exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum", a cross-generation programme was firstly organised between July and August 2019. This programme provided the elderly docents with docent training. After the training, the elderly docents invited their families and friends to the museum and guided them on a visit of the exhibition, fostering inter-generational communication and harmony while visiting the museum together.

"Tales of Heaven and Earth – A Journey through Dunhuang Culture" Outreach Educational Theatre

In association with the exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Digital Dunhuang – Tales of Heaven and Earth", Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre co-organised "Tales of Heaven and Earth – A Journey through Dunhuang Culture" touring educational theatre in special schools of various districts between June and October 2018. The programme aims to give students an introduction to the Dunhuang Mogao Caves and the Chinese culture and arts through an interesting and educational play.

"Social Harmony Project: New Experience in Dunhuang Music"

In association with the exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Digital Dunhuang – Tales of Heaven and Earth", Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Gaudeamus Dunhuang co-organised "Social Harmony Project: New Experience in Dunhuang Music" in September 2018. Low-income families were invited to visit Hong Kong Heritage Museum to join the activity. The participants were able to gain more knowledge and understanding of Dunhuang culture and Chinese music through guided tour, demonstration by musicians, appreciation of music pieces and interactive games.

"Friendship and More" Social Art Creativity Workshop

In association with the exhibition "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship and Family", Hong Kong Heritage Museum organized "Friendship and More" Social Art Creativity Workshop between December 2017 and February 2018 for primary 3 to 5 students who were studying in mainstream primary schools and had special educational needs. The workshop started with guided tours led by experienced instructor for better understanding of the friendship among the Pixar cartoon characters, and followed by art creativity workshops, where students learnt about the art and techniques of sketching. Students were encouraged to express their understanding of friendship by creating their own artworks.

"By All Means: Travelling through le Louvre" Accessible Guided Tours and Workshops

In association with the exhibition "Inventing le Louvre – From Palace to Museum over 800 Years", Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong co-organised "By All Means: Travelling through le Louvre" Accessible Guided Tours and Workshops between May and July 2017. The experienced instructors led the people with disabilities to appreciate the Louvre masterpieces with the aid of different accessibility techniques and equipment. With these accessible guided tours introducing the background information of the masterpieces and the characteristics of the Louvre architecture, participants were able to understand the history of France at the time.
