When Professor Chao donated his masterpieces to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 1995, he contributed to the establishment of the Chao Shao-an Gallery. Later he also donated his important works to the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco and the Guangzhou Museum of Art, showing his recognition of the museums as custodians of his art.
Being one of the programme series in commemoration of the 110th Birthday of Chao Shao-an, the museum invited the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco to lend 12 signature works which have never been shown in Hong Kong, including the triplet "Buffalo at Rest", "Red Kapok Blossoms" and "Rooster". Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum will showcase collection of Professor Chao's seals, old photographs and publications.
