Tsang Tai Uk, constructed between 1847 and 1867, is a typical Hakka walled village, featuring the ‘three-hall, four-row’ layout, exemplifying the symmetrical design characteristic of Qing-dynasty vernacular architecture. The ancestral hall, now open to the public, was among the earliest structures completed in the village and serves as a place for ancestral worship and communal celebrations. Defensive features, such as gun holes and watchtowers at the four corners, which are still visible today, were once used to protect the community from the pirate and bandit attacks. Tsang Tai Uk is designated as a Grade 1 historic building. Visitors are welcome to appreciate its rich cultural heritage.
